Carnation Sensation

A few months ago, my week in reviewincluded a floral centerpiece by Eddie Ross made entirely of carnations.  It looked so chic, and I loved the fact that he shared how easy it is to actually put it together!  In March, Jennifer Sbranti of the Hostess Blog {another one of my all-time favorites} posted about Getting Creative with Carnations.  Well, my friends, it's not a coincidence... there is seriously a new sensation with carnations!!  I know they have a bad wrap {hello? In the movie, The Wedding Planner, someone even says "You put another carnation in one of my arrangements again, and I'll kill you!"}  But believe me all, they're not that bad. 

They are very appealing, and guess what? Cost effective for all you budget brides!  Get inspired by the arrangements below!

Parasol Me... please!

The days in southern California have been so sunny, so I couldn't help but be inspired to post about such a darling wedding trend... parasols!  I think I would sport these on walks down the boardwalk or strolling around the park.  Wouldn't you?

What is the point of a "green" post, if I don't mention my favorite green-friendly blogs?  I wouldn't consider myself a "tree-hugger", but I definitely am working towards a green movement in my home.  Nothing more trendy than that!  These are my favorite "green", eco-friendly, and environmentally-focused blogs... enjoy!

Have I ever mentioned Style Unveiled?  They have an Ec0-Chic section that is amazing!  Plus, today, they have a green inspiration style board that you just have to check out!  {P.S.  I swear I'm not obsessed with them!  I'm just a really, really big fan! =) }

Raising Pink Awareness...

My sister-in-law has decided to take on the feat of participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk for Breast Cancer.  So signing up to walk 60 miles in a 3-day period isn't exactly ALL you're signing up for.  You're committing yourself to raising at least $2,300 for the foundation.  That is a feat in and of itself.  So I decide to steer my sister-in-law in the direction of "fundraising".  

Raising money is always great, especially when you're having fun drinking your way into the big bucks!  Suggestion: hook up with a local bar/restaurant & ask if you can partner up with them on one of them during their Happy Hour.  Come up with some PINK signature drinks & sell them for an extra dollar or two, with the profits going to your fundraiser.     

Benefit for you: raising money while catching a drink with your friends; as well as the satisfaction that you spending money on something you like (like, P.I.N.K. vodka) is also helping a really good cause!  Think: DRINK PINK!

Benefit for the bar/restaurant/club: (1) promotion for there to be a crowd; (2) satisfaction that they're helping a good cause! =)

SUPERHERO = Super Party!

In the spirit of this month + Halloween, I thought I should share some inspiration for a costume-themed soiree.  October babies can celebrate with an atypical party, which I have been talking about since Joel was born.  It's always been my goal to throw Joel a Superhero birthday party, since he is obsessed with: Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Ironman, Fantastic 4... the list goes on + on + on + on!

The idea: SUPERHERO Party
The concept: Having the kids dress up in their superhero costumes
The food: MINI everything {mini burgers, mini tacos, cupcakes as mini cakes, etc}. The idea behind this is that each superhero attendee would feel like the HULK with mini food in their hands.
The drinks: MINI soda cans, mini water bottles, etc
The activity: Be your own superhero! The hostess {in this case the MOMMY} would create capes for each attendee {paper or fabric}. Each attendee would design their own cape with their own vibrant colors, logo, design etc. Then, each attendee would describe his/her one chosen SUPER POWER! Perfect photo-op of an entire clan of superheroes!
